About
I am a visual artist, specialising in portraiture, and live in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia. I work in pencil, pastel, oils, acrylic and watercolours. I am inspired by nature and convey my love of animals and the environment through my art, sometimes with a quirky twist.
My parents were in the veterinary business, horse breeders and bloodstock agents and I grew up surrounded by nature, an inspiration from an early age. As a child, being asthmatic, running around was not an option and I spent my time drawing animals and people, often as cartoons, gradually becoming more and more immersed in the world of art.
I studied drawing and painting at Epsom Art School in the UK and Studio Simi in Florence, Italy. I moved to the Hunter Valley, NSW. in 1990 and studied for a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration at Newcastle University.
Since arriving in Australia, from the UK, I have concentrated on commissioned portrait work while also exhibiting at Von Bertouch Galleries in Newcastle. I have been a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Award for portraiture three times.
