About

I am a portrait artist living in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia and I work with pencil, pastel, oils, acrylic and watercolours. At the same time I am inspired by nature and convey my love of animals and the environment through my art, sometimes with a quirky twist. My parents were in the veterinary business, horse breeders and bloodstock agents, ensuring I grew up surrounded by animals and nature, an inspiration from an early age. As a child, being asthmatic, running around was not an option and I spent my time drawing animals and people, often as cartoons, gradually became more and more immersed in the world of art.

I studied drawing and painting at Epsom Art School in the UK and Studio Simi in Florence, Italy. I moved to the Hunter Valley, NSW. in 1990 and have since studied for a Batchelor of Natural History Illustration at Newcastle University. Since arriving in Australia from the UK, I have concentrated on commissioned portrait work while also exhibiting at Von Bertouch Galleries in Newcastle. I havebeen a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Award for portraiture three times.

Please enjoy my portfolio.
